Looking for an adjective for a 'research topic'...

    Hi there,

In academic terms, is there any adjective describing a 'research topic' which is not well thought, or very naive in nature? (Something not worth carrying out, perhaps?!)

    A waste of time?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

I have used many terms to critique poor research proposals:

    Chasing rainbows
    Searching for unicorns
    Reinventing the wheel
