I ran into an article today calling the behavior of a person calling for all homeless to be removed from the streets before a public relations event 'racist'.

This person didn't care what race the homeless were or the reason they were homelesz... just didn't want them seen by media and visitors.

I've been trying to search for an appropriate term but all I see are lots of examples of the phrase discrimination against the homeless.

Surely a name exists. If not what would a new word look like?

I don't know a word for such a person. If forced, I would call them "anti-homeless" or "a homeless-hater" but those are not terms I have actually seen used.

Calling such a person "racist" is nonsense. They are probably mean, lacking compassion, even inhumane, but "racist" simply does not work.

Racist gets thrown around almost meaninglessly by some people for any behaviour seen as bigoted. However, you could describe the process of removing unwanted people as a form of cleansing, from ethnic cleansing.

I'm not a teacher and I'm not a native speaker.

You can coin a neologism using the Latin word "profugo", hence "profugophobia", "profugophobe".

Isn't that refugee? It is a good word, but would it cover domestic homeless?

Yes, I agree, it's not perfect but it's the nearest I could get to make it up.

Anti-transient, perhaps?

And on a less serious note - hobophobic.
