family-oriented culture vs individual-oriented

I intend to write about some of the differences between the (?) Iranian culture and the Western culture. (Do I need "the" here?)

Is it correct to say a culture a "family-oriented" while another culture is "individual-oriented"?

Could you please tell me if this works?

The differences between the Iranian culture and the Western culture have always been exaggerated. Having said that, Iranian culture is certainly different in terms of family and its role in society. The Iranian culture tends to be family-oriented while the Western culture is more individual-oriented and they place a high value on personal choice. For instance, in west, marriage can happen without the approval of parents. But in Iranian culture, children must get the permission of their parents before getting married.

Iranian culture tends to be family-oriented while Western culture is more individual-oriented and they place a high value on personal choice. For instance, in the West, marriage can happen without the approval of parents. But in Iranian culture, children must get the permission of their parents before getting married. Also, youngsters in Western countries usually move out of their parents house when they reach the age of 18. That is not the case with the Iranian culture.

It's not necessary. There's no use for it. The word Iranian already specifies which culture you mean.

Oddly, in the revision "the" was taken out where it was before and put in where it wasn't before.

"culture" in this context is uncountable so no article is needed. "revolution" is countable so an article is needed.
