Hello.

How do you pronounce kph? As kei piː eɪtʃ?

''They have wind speeds of 60 kph ormore''. From ''Reading Challenge''.

I rememeber it. I do. I actually copied it into my notes. I just thought maybe there are exceptions.
In the Seventies, American users typically bought cannabis by the ounce, also called a "lid". They often slangily referred to that amount by its Latin-based abbreviation, oz, which they pronounced "oh-zee". (We Americans call the last letter of the alphabet zee rather than "zed".)

I haven't been able to think of any other exceptions but they may well exist.

There are exceptions. Think of "cc's." Or "rpm."

American soldiers call km's "klicks."

I would probably read it aloud as "kilometres per/an hour". I don't think I've ever said "kay pee aitch". It's the same with "mph".

Written: He was driving at 50 mph.
Spoken: He was driving at 50 miles an hour.

Using "an" instead of "per" is very common in the UK when talking about speed.

kph can be pronounced "kay pee aitch" or "kilometers per hour".

However, the proper SI notation is "km/h".
