We navigated our way through a maze

    Is this correct and natural?

We navigated our way through a maze of intertwining, narrow alleys, reaching the mansion before midday. I think it was more an ostentatious, in your face display of wealth, meant to intimidate the visitor than a warm welcoming, cozy home.

It's good to use parallel construction: more to do this than do that.
I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.
