San Fairy Ann

Hi,

Have you heard or used this expression "San Fairy Ann"?

I've seen it a time or two. It's a light-hearted, semi-phonetic way to spell the French ça ne fait rien, "it's nothing".

I've not heard it from anybody else but me for a long time. It dates back to World War One (though I only date back to WWII) and is best left in the past.

I'm the same. The last other person I heard it from was a fifty-year- old charge nurse in a hospital I was working at in Exeter in 1975-5.
