Hello, everyone!

Do you all think that there is anything wrong with the following two sentences?

When, about five years ago, Ahmad began re-issuing my early short stories, I decided to start with the second of them, "Boy". Without having read its predecessor, "Girl", for many years, and without feeling the need to do so then, I was quite sure that I did not want to resurrect it.

Thank you

I wouldn't hyphenate reissue. Maybe the British do.

Other than that, they're fine. Why do you ask?

What do you meant by "resurrect it"? Resurrect (bring back to life) the story in the book?

My friend felt that it was quite poorly written; I felt otherwise. So, I thought of getting other opinions here.

"Resurrect" to mean "revive the writing of".

I think "reissuing" and "resurrect" are not the best choices of words.
How about "republishing" instead of "reissuing"?

I did not want to resurrect it.
I did not want the new book to follow from/be a sequel to its predecessor.

They are both OK in this context.

All three make sense to me.

Aha! It looks well written to me. Is your friend's first language English?

It's OK as a text, but a a writer, couldn't you make it a bit snappier?
