Choose the word or phrase that is most nearly the same in meaning as the word in capital letters.
8. BESET
(A) plead
(B) perplex
(C) pertain to
(D) deny
(E) harass
My answer is E, but the book's answer is B.
Which answer do you think is correct?
Thanks very much.

No. Why do you ask?

MikeNewYork suspected (with good reason, I have to say) that this was your homework.

Please read rule 6:

Please don't ask us to do or correct your homework; this is a place to discuss language. We do not do homework or assignments for people. If we suspect that a question is an assignment, we will not answer it and may edit or delete it.

The GRE is an exam used by by graduate schools in the US. I would venture that 98% of the people asking questions based on a GRE book are doing self-study (or paying for a study program) to prepare for this exam and it has nothing to do with school work.

Just one thing. Suppose this were a homework assignment, then why would I ask if I already knew the book's answer?
Thanks for reminding people of rule 6, anyway.
