Hello everyone,

For example, someone says, "I cut myself." After a slight pause he/she wans to add that it happened accidentally.

So which one is more appopiate, if I want to write it as two sentences?

1. I cut myself. An accident.
2. I cut myself. Accidentally.

Or both are equally valid?

The question is based on the Russian TV series The Тёлки.

The first is no good. The second is possible. Otherwise, consider "... by accident" (no pause).

Just say 'I cut myself'— everybody will assume you did it accidentally.

People who cut themselves deliberately have serious mental health problems.

Hello everyone, Unnecessary.

For example, Someone says, "I cut myself." After a slight pause, he/she wants to add that it happened accidentally.

So Which one is more appropriate no comma here if I want to write it as two sentences?

1. I cut myself. An accident.
2. I cut myself. Accidentally.

Or Are both are equally valid correct and natural?

Out of curiosity, why would you want to write two sentences?

Well, it's two sentences in the Russian original (a scene from a TV series). A detective asks a woman why there were bloodstains on the floor in her flat and she says, "I cut myself", makes a pause and then adds: "Accidentally."

I also found an example on the net. It's from the book The Last Degradation by Eric Thornton.

I cut myself. An accident,” Pheffer said fiercely. “Now I've really got to get ready for someone.” He moved toward the door.

You should have provided the source in post #1 (we need the name of the TV series).

With the pause, I would still write it as "I cut myself - accidentally".
