Should "move on to" be followed by verb or "verb plus ing"? For example "After checking our new software we moved on to check how efficiently it worked with our systems" or "After checking our new software we moved on to checking how efficiently it worked with our systems"

The logical choice is the second. You opened with "After checking" so it makes sense to use another -ing verb after it. However, the opening five words need to be expanded on. What do you mean by "checking our software"?
