I’m the eldest child in my family, so I need to set a good example for my brother and sister. I learned that from my mother. She is my role model. Mum was also the eldest child in her family. She has two younger brothers. Mum was always calm, fair, and wise beyond her years.

I’d like to know if the use of “beyond her years” in the last sentence is correct. It’s the first time I’ve read this usage.
