Have I made any mistakes?

Bob's flat looked like a monastic cell, furnished with basic furniture and no pictures on the walls or flowers in the windows. As he never received visitors, one chair in the kitchen and another at his desk satisfied all his needs. In his living room he didn't even have a sofa or a table, but the walls were covered with books. There were thousands of them, and they were Bobs's only interest. His neighbours regarded him as a weirdo, but Bob didn't care what others thought about him. Sometimes, he heard his neighbours having a argument and he was grateful he wasn't married. He was in his sixties and couldn't imagine living with another person. When he heard on the radio people complaining about loneliness, he smiled and thought that he never felt lonely. And how could you feel lonely with all those minds around you? he thought.

One small thing. Perhaps:

"How could you feel lonely with all those minds around you?" he thought.

Or:

He thought, "How could you feel lonely with a thousand conversations at your fingertips?"

Wouldn't it be more monastic to have one chair and move it?
