What does "
Burn out the day" mean?
Does it mean "cast off the day" (I don't want the day)?

————
"Burnin' For You"

Home in the valley
Home in the city
Home isn't pretty
Ain't no home for me

Home in the darkness
Home on the highway
Home isn't my way
Home I'll never be

Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can't see no reason to put up a fight
I'm living for giving the devil his due

And I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you
I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you

If it means anything (song lyrics are always open to interpretation), it is something related to how a candle "burns outs," extinguishes, ends its time.

Does "Burn out the day" grammatically refer to "May the day burn out"?

I don't think so. I think the lyricist was thinking something like I'm a burnout in the daytime, I'm a burnout at night. A burnout is someone who is "burned out", which means utterly exhausted, often from having used too much alcohol or drugs.

Yes, good point. When I went to high school, the subculture of people who drank and smoked pot, listened to hard rock music and dressed in black t-shirts and flannel were called "burnouts."

BTW, does "
Home I'll never be" mean "I will never stay at home"?

It means something more like "I'll never have a home".

Does "
I'm burnin" refer to "I'm burnin (like a candle, and burn out/extinguish everyday)"?

No. It means the singer feels overwhelming passion for the other person.

The singer is using the word in two different ways- burning with love/passion, like a fever, and extinguishing/burning out.
