Meanwhile, he is under investigation for potentially disclosing classified information in his first book, about the Bin Laden raid.

Can I use potential instead of the word underlined in red?
Please correct me!

No. You need an adverb there.

No. You need an adverb there.

I can't understand again.
Why did the sentence need the adverb?
I try to translate from English to Chinese, it doesn't make sense.

'... for the potential disclosing of classified information ...'
Is it OK to use the adjective 'potential' here?

What doesn't make sense?

Not a teacher.

I don't get it either. But if you want to use the adjective, you'd have to say "for the potential disclosure of ..."
What I don't get is the 'potential' bit. He's under investigation for something he could potentially do? But he's already written the book. He's either disclosed the information or he hasn't.

The question is about whether the information was classified.

The people are investigating whether the information disclosed in his book is classified.
Is it correct?

That is my take on it.

The word underlined in red is verb? or can noun, can verb?

A past participle modifying a noun.

Not a teacher.

It is a past participle that acts as an adjective. The participial phrase is a reduced clause "that is disclosed".
