compelling vs convincing

I hope I didn't insult you too much---just the right amount. I wasn't talking about you, I'm sure you understand.
I could not possibly be insulted by somebody who uses the words vapid and empty of 'a compelling argument', and semi-literate and with limited vocabulary of people who might use this adjective+noun phrase, and who then writes, " If you use it at all, you will sound like your process is all TVed up".

'Wryly amused' perhaps better describes my feeling.
