Hi,
We all know that contraction of might not is mightn't and contraction of should not is shouldn't. What about contraction for 'may not' and 'shall not'? Do they have contraction?
Thanks for the help.

Hi, snoopy!:-D

I believe they are 'mayn't' and 'shan't.'

We certainly use "shan't" (which I've seen spelt "shaln't" occasionally) in BrE. My late grandfather was the last person I heard use "mayn't" and I think he was the only person I ever heard use it.

We must meet sometime. I'll give you the pleasure of hearing it again.

I think I use it pretty rarely. In fact, until my daughter mocked me once for coming out with it, I would have said that I didn't. I certainly do not use it except in question tags.
