Could you have a look at these two articles from a dictionary.

The exercise is taken from Upstream Proficiency by Virginia Evans and Jenny Dooley.
What troubles me is item 7. I answered covered with bruises. Could you help me understand whether this variant is possible or not? The dictionary gives 'in/with" for "covered".

I agree with the dictionary. Use "in" or "with" there.

Added:

"Could you" starts a question, so I would put a question mark at the end of that one.

On a strict day, I'd say that only in is right in this particular context. Or at least, in is better.
