[Idiom] Don't get high on your own supply

What is the meaning of "don't get high on your own supply"

I know that the literal meaning could be "to use ur own drug" but I cant get the menaing.

Could be a metaphor for blowing your own horn, praising yourself, etc.

It could also mean to not use up what you should be selling.

For example, I know of a store owner who keeps eating all his ice cream. Then he has none to sell to make money.

I agree with Susie- a drug dealer who takes drugs will have less to sell and fail to do good business.
