Lately, I have been trying to figure out the difference between semicolons and em-dashes (and colons, since, as it turned out, they can replace the former two in some cases!) So I opened THIS thread. Three people have replied so far, three different approaches! Oh, goodie!
It seems I'm going to need all the different opinions I can get, so, if you feel like it, participate!
