Hello,

I'm curious about if there is any difference between faculty and department? Or there is no difference if I say the Faculty of Philosophy or the Department of Pfilosophy? Is the one more or less important?

Please help.

I wait for your answers.

Thank you and regards :)

Not a teacher.

"Faculty" specifically refers to the professors or teachers in a school. A Department of Philosophy would include the professors, graduate students in assistance roles, and support staff/secretaries all together.

I've come to learn that this is in the US only.

The first time someone who was 20 years old said he was in the faculty of some university, I thought he was pulling my leg. Here it means on the teaching staff. There it means a member of the student body.
