First, the term "kid" is much more general than "toddler". A toddler is generally used to describe a child who has just begun to walk. "Kid" can refer to a juvenile usually under 18 years. Second, with regard to the choice between the two sentences you posted, the second would be correct.

Well, I thought the post was a choice between the last two sentences. If true, and if BarbD and RoverKE assumed the same, I would argue that the first is not correct. On the other hand, if we are looking at three sentences, then #1 and #3 are correct. Heeeeeellllllpppp!

And, as you already said, substituting "toddler" for "kid" is not a logically sound substitution, but it is grammatical.

#1 means that you have no memory of how it felt when you were a child.

I suppose some may argue that "what it was like to be a kid" may be correct and "being" is not, but the original sounds fine to me and I'd say it either way.
