But, What's the difference here? how would I know when to use "had been" and when to use "was" in a situation like that? or maybe not in this situation can you tell me what's the difference overall? I can give you one more example.
She was tired because she was working all day.
She was tired because she had been working all day.

You have several threads going at the moment, batman learner, all with similar questions. In most of them both the past tense and the past perfect can be used. The purist might prefer the past perfect, but that doesn't bother most of us.

She was tired because she had been working all day.

She had been working all day up to that point, which is what had made her tired.
