Someone please tell me the meaning of the following line. Source "In the Forests of the Darkness" by John Simpson

That was one reason to feel guilty. The other was that I had let him down badly not long before.

There were a couple of reasons to feel guilty- the first has been mentioned earlier in the text, probably in the previous sentence, and the second is that he or she had disappointed the person recently.
