Dear teachers,
Would you tell me your opinion concerning the interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?
I've come to see you in order that you may be sure everything is all right.
You must take measures in order that such mistakes may never be made again.
He got up at six (o'clock) in order that he might be there in time.
in order that = so that, to the end or purpose that
He spoke loud (so) that all of them might hear his words
He got up at six (o'clock) (in order) to be there in time
All he had to do now was to save his own skin in order to enjoy the fortune that was waiting for him...
He got up at six (o'clock) so that he might be thee in time.
Thanks for your efforts.
Regards,
V
