Man: I heard you went to that new restaurant on Queen Street. What’s the name of it again?

Woman: It’s called The Walnut Tree. It was great – terrific food, fast service, pleasant setting.

"Setting" is countable. Why is the article of it omitted? I assume that it is because the two phrases before it are uncountable, so the article of "setting" is optional, considering the agreement of the three phrases, and the sentence being colloquial.

I would take the three items as the merits of the restaurant. Being discrete entities, they do not need the articles.

...so the article [STRIKE]of[/STRIKE] for "setting" is optional, considering the [STRIKE]agreement [/STRIKE] consistency of the three phrases, and the sentence being colloquial.

It would be grammatical with a. But speakers often like to create parallel series, and that's what the woman did. She also omitted the conjunction and, which would be wordier and therefore less emphatic.

It sounds better her way, don't you think?
