Are the parts correct? Should I use an English team fan instead?

My family's favourite sports team is Manchester United. I have been the English team fan all my life. My friends are also its fans. I feel a sense of community when we are supporting it.

See above.

I'm not sure what you mean by "community". Try "camaraderie" instead.

I guess by "it" you mean Man United. Maybe in British English they say "it". (I didn't know that.) To me they are not an "it"; they are are a collection of individuals. For example, UNC plays Duke this coming Saturday. They hope to win, but it doesn't look good. They are not having a good year.

No. We don't say "it" in BrE either.

Do you support Man Utd?
Yes, I've supported them for years.

He used to support Leicester City but gave up on them when they got demoted to League Two.
