Hi guys,

Is it correct to say "My waist got jerked while lifting weight"?

I have no idea what that means. What is your intended meaning?

I was trying to lift the weight for shoulders exercise, you have to lift it like with in fraction of seconds, in one go, but I couldn't do it and all weight came on my spine.

And what does that have to do with your waist?

I bet, tufguy doesn't do this exercise correctly. :-D

Can we use word 'Jerked' and what does it mean?

Please reply guys.

No, it has no usage in describing injuries.

I replied earlier, but my post mysteriously disappeared. The word "jerk" can refer to a weightlifting movement, particularly in the phrase "clean and jerk".

You don't have access to a Hindi-English dictionary on the web?

I read on internet "My hand jerked while doing exercise", so what does it mean?

"Jhatka" means variously, "shock", "lurch", "flick", "wrench", "twist" etcetera. It is also the term given to a method of animal slaughter involving beheading with a single blow.

That's probably why I try to avoid too much physical exercise.

OK, can I say "My waist jerked while lifting weight"?

Do you mean "cramped" or "cramped up"?

OK, please tell me how to say it correctly or can I say "My waist or hand lurched while doing exercise"?. What does "Jerk" mean?
