What does "concise synthesis" mean? Is it somehow equal to "an overall brief conclusion"?

Had it said "synopsis", I would have generally agreed with your suggested "brief conclusion". I have absolutely no idea what the original is supposed to mean!

I found it in an article on clustering algorithms for Big Data.

Here is more context:

Big Data is usually defined by three characteristics called 3Vs (Volume, Velocity and Variety). It refers to data that are too large, dynamic and complex. In this context, data are difficult to capture, store, manage, and analyze using traditional data management tools. Thus, the new conditions imposed by Big Data present serious challenges at different level, including data clustering. This paper aims to review the state of art and make a concise synthesis related to clustering techniques in Big Data context.

It is still not clear what synthesis (which means combining things together) is and what are to be synthesized. I think "concise synthesis" is a strange collocation.
