Do you know what mooring is, related to boats?

per dictionary, mooring: The act of securing a vessel with a cable or anchor etc.

so He was unmoored, means he didn't own to what he previously said?

Meaning that he had nothing solid to hold himself to, that he was sort of just drifting with the waves.

When a ship is moored it is tied to the dock. If it would become unmoored it would drift off and become a hazard to other ships. A person who has become unmoored has lost his way. He is adrift.

What does it mean when someone was "unmoored"?

Trump was unmoored .... http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/04/politics/republican-debate-analysis-takeaways/

[STRIKE]per[/STRIKE] The dictionary definition of mooring is "The act of securing a vessel with a cable or anchor etc."

So does "He was unmoored" [STRIKE]means[/STRIKE] mean he didn't own to what he previously said?

Note my changes above. It's important to start every sentence with a capital letter and to write full sentences. I don't understand what you meant by the part I have underlined.
