I found this ' However brief it may have been' in 'However brief it may have been, the section on Hong Kong in Premier Li Keqiang’s (李克強) annual work report to the state legislature has been taken as an indicator of Beijing’s latest stance towards the city.'

Please help tell me the meaning of it ' however brief it may have been'

Re: What''s the mean of 'however brief it may have been'?

What is the meaning of "However brief it may have been"? [STRIKE]Waiting[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]for[/STRIKE] I am looking forward toyour help.

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

Please see my changes above. You need to ask the full question in the post, not just in the title. "Waiting for your help" is not an appropriate sentence here. It sounds impatient and demanding.

In your title, you used quotation marks (") instead of an apostrophe (') in "What's".

Please give us a full sentence including your fragment and tell us where you saw it.

Re: What''s the mean of 'however brief it may have been'?

I have merged your two threads so we now have the full context in post #1 (somewhat confusingly!)

Re: What''s the mean of 'however brief it may have been'?

It means that even though the section was short, it indicated his stance.

Re: What''s the mean of 'however brief it may have been'?

You could rephrase to Regardless of how brief it was...
