Some people think that it is better to see the film than to read the book in the original. However, others hold a different view. They think that they can get much more _______ (detail, details) of the story from the original work.

We use "much" with uncountable nouns and "many" with countable (as a general rule). Given that the original says " ________ more detail" then it would be "much more detail". Had it said "_______ more details", it would have been "many more details".
