I am struggling with the meaning of this expression. What does non-clinical or nonclinical mean when it is not used in medical terms?

In what context have you seen it usd in this way?

In a self-efficacy related article I got the following sentence: But the concept of self-efficacy is very similar to self-confidence, so in a non-clinical environment, such as athletic instruction or coaching, there seems little reason to make precise distinctions.

Your sentence gives examples of a non-clinical environment - athletic instruction or coaching.

Thank you very much for your reply. I understand these are examples, but still I don't understand the meaning of non-clinical in the context.
May I please provide another example? Here it is: Stats show 16,180 were axed for nonclinical reasons in the first quarter of 2015. The Sun (2015).
