Are all of the following correct and do they all make sense?

1) The police didn't know that a man among the five being investigated was a foreign agent. They knew two of the others were.
2) The police didn't know that one man among the five being investigated was a foreign agent. They knew two of the others were.
3) The police didn't know that one of the five men being investigated was a foreign agent. They knew two of the others were.
4) Concerning one of the five men being investigated the police did not know that he was a foreign agent. The knew two of the others were.

I'd say The police knew that two of the five men being investigated were foreign agents. They didn't know that another/a third one was as well.

I think the grammar is okay in your sentences, but they could have been written better, especially the last one. (See if you can find the typo.)
