I know that 'Nor' is the coordinating conjunction that is used to express an additional negative idea when a negative idea has already been stated in a sentence. For example:

1) He doesn't like cricket nor he enjoys basketball.

In the sentence above, nor is used to join two independent clauses.

But If I want to join two elements that are not independent clauses, would I use 'Nor' or the preferred coordinating conjunction should be 'Or'?

For example:

1) He can't play football nor basketball.

2) He can't play football or basketball.

See above.

Yes, I have made a mistake.

Negative inversion must be used in the second clause if I want to join two independent clauses using 'nor'.

Also, "He can play neither football nor basketball".
