I’m currently a first-semester student at the Faculty of Languages, and I’m seeking some academic guidance regarding English proficiency expectations for the second semester in a general English department at university.

At present, my overall English level is around B1, but I’m aware that my writing and vocabulary are still at an A2 level. Although I completed an Advanced course back in 2023, I recognize that my current abilities need further improvement—especially in preparation for more advanced academic work.

I would be truly grateful if anyone—especially students who have completed the second semester or educators familiar with university language programs—could share what level is typically required, and what skills I should focus on strengthening over the break.

I deeply appreciate your time, insight, and any resources or advice you’re willing to share.

In the third paragraph, I would write "someone" instead of "anyone". In general, "anyone" is used in negative sentences and in questions.

I think that is a very general question asking about language proficiency expectations as every institute of higher learning has its own grading system, unless you are talking about international testing systems like IELTS.

I disagree. "Someone" could suggest that they want just one person to reply. Using "anyone" makes it clear they'd like a response from, ideally, all the people who fit the criteria.

I've moved this thread to a more appropriate sub-forum.
