Which sentence is correct in the context of “a list of stars”:
1. Star list
2. Stars list

and what is the difference of those two?

Hello rumind, and welcome to the forum. :)
See my correction below.
What kind of star and list are you talking about? Can you provide a little more context please?
and what is the difference [STRIKE]of[/STRIKE] between those two?

I mean, I want to shorten the sentence “a list of X", where X might be any item. In particular, I’m interested in the word “stars”. There is no specific list of stars. My question does the shortener make any sense and what’s the difference between plural and singular?

Another example:
* item list
* items list

"A list of X" is not a sentence. It's a fragment of a sentence. Please give us a complete sentence in which you want to shorten "a list of X" to something else.

Thank you for the answer.
I guess I just don't understand what I’m asking. I guess it doesn't matter.

Btw, I’m not sure I can understand what’s not clear. If you could explain what you are asking or what’s the difference then I might be able to provide more context. Otherwise your questions looks too arrogant.

Post 6 makes no sense to me. Rumind appears to be responding to their own post as if they were a third party.

Rumind, if you don't understand what you're asking, you need to do some work yourself. Work out what exactly it is you are trying to do and then ask us very clearly what you need from us. Whatever it is, though, you must give us complete sentences to work with. I am closing this thread now because it appears to be going nowhere. Please start a new thread once you've worked out what you're trying to say.
