I mean, I want to shorten the sentence “a list of X", where X might be any item. In particular, I’m interested in the word “stars”. There is no specific list of stars. My question does the shortener make any sense and what’s the difference between plural and singular?

Another example:

* items list

"A list of X" is not a sentence. It's a fragment of a sentence. Please give us a complete sentence in which you want to shorten "a list of X" to something else.

Btw, I’m not sure I can understand what’s not clear. If you could explain what you are asking or what’s the difference then I might be able to provide more context. Otherwise your questions looks too arrogant.

Rumind, if you don't understand what you're asking, you need to do some work yourself. Work out what exactly it is you are trying to do and then ask us very clearly what you need from us.
