Is the word stretched below a linking verb?

My skin was stretched taut across my cheekbone.

Now this time I would think "taut" is subject complement.
What do you say?

Could it be possible that "taut" is an adjective and "stretch" is a quasi-copula?

This is what I am thinking:

My skin grew taut.
Maybe the term "grew" is not specific enough, so "stretched" replaces it and it becomes My skin stretched taut.

To me, taut is still a subject complement, but I am not very sure of the type of "stretch"

Oh... I think I was wrong because "taut" is not a subject complement but an adjective.

This is my thought:

"My skin stretched" is complete, but "My skin grew." is not complete, so it needs a complement. This one I can understand.

In another case, "My skin stretched taut."
At first, "taut" feels like an adverb, but due to the quasi-copula "stretched" in front of it, it is still an adjective modifying skin.

This is my second thought.
