Hi folks,
Towards the end of The Golden Girls Series 1 Episode 17 Blache said, "Embellishment's one of the oldest traditions in the South. Tall tales and tall drinks. I don't really sleep around near as much as I say I do." Could anyone explain to me what "tall tales and tall drinks" mean? I know what a tall tale is and what a tall drink is but I can't figure out what it means when they are combined.

Thanks as always,

A "tall tale" is a story that is either completely made up or at least has some rather unbelievable aspects.
A "tall drink" is a drink (alcoholic) in a tall glass.

Together, the suggestion is that they go together. When people get together and have a lot of drinks, they also tell such stories.

People exaggerate things that have happened, or are happening, in their lives (tall tales) while drinking alcohol (tall drinks).
