[General] the definition of the word "to" in dictionary

Hi, after finishing "on", now I got confused with to. Very glad to have you there to help me.

In the dictionary, there are some sentence I don't know.

1. With the resultant condition of: nursed her back to health.


I don't know what is the resultant condition of ? In this case, is the resultant condition = health ? And dose there need a object after of ? I can't understand the meaning of the word "to" in this sentence.

2. Used to indicate appropriation or possession: looked for the top to the jar.


I know the meaning of the word appropriation and possession, but I can't understand top to the jar associate with appropriation or possession.

3. As an accompaniment or a complement of: danced to the tune.

As above, I know the word accompaniment, but I don't know what's relation of the "to" to accompaniment, also, in this sentence, the complement of what ? Is complement of tune ?

First, please start to use capital letters. You must start every sentence with a capital letter and you must capitalize the pronoun "I" - always!

I strongly suggest you do not use a dictionary to understand preposition. It will not help you the way simply reading texts in English will help.

"the resultant condition" - as a result/consequence. Yes, health was the result of the nursing. They led us back to safety. Same thing.
The top goes with the jar. It's the jar's lid. It's the top to the jar.

As a native English speaker, I can barely understand how dictionaries define really, really common words like this.

Concentrate on reading to get a "feel" for how these are used instead.
