Hi teachers,

Is "I transferred the land property to his name" correct?

Thanks.

No, I transferred the "deed" (for the property) to him.

In BE, we say (informally) 'I put the property into his name'.

Can I use (for the property) without brackets?

I transferred the deed for the property to him.

Sometimes we say "I transferred the title to his name."

It's very likely the title company holds the deed.

What is a "title company"?

Sorry, my mistake. The title company does not hold the deed. It investigates and ensures that the proper changes are made to the title to the deed. The deed actually resides with the county.

A title company assists in the transfer of ownership (title) of a property.
