Would you object to the sentence given below?


He was readmitted to hospital because the wound on is leg had suppurated from an unknown bacterium infecting it.

I'm not sure that I'd use 'from'. I favor 'due to'. Also, unless the fact that this bacterium is unidentified is important, I'd just call it a 'bacterial infection'. We also say that a wound has 'gone septic'.

But at any rate, the way that you're using 'bacterium' is acceptable.

What I would like to know is whether the sentence in question is grammatically correct because I have always seen the words suppurate and fester used as participial adjectives and in this case it is not used as such. As for the use of the preposition from, it is often used to show the reason for something, as in:

Samantha felt sick from tiredness. She had been walking non-stop for three hours.
