Hi Everyone!
So I had English class today and there was a sentence my teacher wrote during some exercise that I'm pretty confident is incorrect.
She wrote:
"The people who wants to..." (I don't remember the rest of the sentence because it was long and I'm sure the rest doesn't matter.)
I kept telling her the "s" from "wants" should be removed since people is plural but she insisted that it was "wants" not "want".
Can somebody explain to me which one is correct, wants or want.
An explanation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You are correct.

The person who wants to -- singular
The people who want to -- plural

It is scary that your English teacher didn't know that.

It could be a confusion with who as a question word when we use a singular verb: Who wants to go home early?
