Hello every one,
HE told Reuters that security forces had tried to negotiate a way out of the crisis.
In this sentence what is the meaning of way out.
I used Oxford dictionary and Merriam webster dictionary to find the meaning of way out but I am not satisfied.

Any body can defind it in more easy way.?

It mean that he told the Reuters that security forces had tried to negotiate about escaping from difficult situation.? Am I right.?

No, it means the security forces tried to negotiate a peaceful solution to the situation.

[STRIKE]Any body can defind it in more easy way.?[/STRIKE]
Can anybody define it in an easier way?
Please note this better way to ask your question.

Security forces had tried to negotiate an escape from a difficult situation. Am I right?

Hello, 1235:

You have asked for more members to reply.

OK, I'll try.

Mr. Wai has told us that "way out" = to escape a difficulty. My example: "Mr. X has lost his job. He doesn't know how he can get enough money to support his family. He is looking for a way out of his problems."

In my opinion (opinion!), yes, you are "right." That is, the security forces talked (negotiated) with the other side so that the security forces could "escape" from (avoid) a difficult situation (crisis).

If that is how you understand the basic meaning of the sentence, then I think that you are "right" in your general interpretation.
