What do you call the luminous strip on the sea?

Imagine this: it is night, you are on the beach, there is a full moon in the sky and in the sea there is the characteristic luminous strip caused by the reflecting moonlight.

My question is: do you have a specific name for that luminous strip?

Thank you.

I'm not aware of a specific name for the strip of moonlight shining on the water. Please note that I have edited your thread title. When asking about the name of something, English always uses "What do you call ... ?" never "How do you call ... ?"

I would (and have) called it "moonshine".

The word "moonglade" is supposedly poetic, but it doesn't rhyme with "sunshine". 😊

The luminous strip on the sea is often called 'bioluminescence.' It's caused by microorganisms like phytoplankton emitting light when disturbed. This natural phenomenon can be seen in certain coastal areas, especially at night. Have you witnessed it before?

I'd just call it a moonbeam.

I'd use that to describe a beam of white light that emanates from the moon and through the night sky. It would be similar to a sunbeam. I don't know a word that describes the reflection of sunlight or moonlight on water.

Being not a native speaker, I can only suggest some metaphores sufficientky often used in several languages. One frequently compares the long shining strip to a road running through the ocean and leading to the moon. Another metaphor (characteristic of the Slavic mentality) is that the moon is "bleeding", and what we see is a stream of its blood
