Please could I ask what 'a first class degree' means in the sentence below? A very good bachelor's or master's or doctor's degree?
She obtained a first class degree in classics. (This sentence is taken from the COLLINS COBUILD USAGE, without any context. And the Chinese translation of this sentence is something like 'She obtained the highest degree in Ancient Rome and Greece's civilization research,' in which I guess the 'the highest degree' should refer to the doctor's degree. But I'm not sure.)
