What does "the heart wants what it wants" mean?

Im trying to express the meaning that the heart wants its something.
Is it correct?
If not, please correct me!

It means that a person can't necessarily help whom he or she falls in love with; sometimes there is no logical explanation for the attraction. For example, Mary informs her parents that she is madly in love with Roy and plans to marry him. "Are you kidding?" Her mom is mystified. "Roy is 30 years older than you, he hasn't had a job in years and he still lives in his parents' basement!" Mary sighs dreamily and replies, "I can't help it, Mom, I love him." Mary's dad shrugs and tells the mom, "You can't fight it. The heart wants what the heart wants."
