I found an example in the Oxford dictionary:
https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/english/ribbon
The road was a ribbon of moonlight.
I know the meaning of "ribbon of road" but I'm not sure why moonlight is there. Does it mean moonlight glinted off the road? In that case, if there is sunlight, would it make sense to say "the road was a ribbon of sunlight"?
