Is it correct to say someone "is going to rock a dress"?

Is this okay?

-What do you think about the cobalt blue dress? Should I buy it?
- Honey, you're going to rock that dress. You would kill in it. Go for it.

Yes, that sentence is OK but "You would kill in it" isn't.

I think that usage of kill is okay in AmE. It's slangy but pretty common.

"You're going to kill it in that dress" would work for me but not just "kill in it".

In my opinion the usage of tenses here is no different than in any other case. In suitable contexts the past perfect is not only acceptable but mandatory.

"Do you like the way I've done my hair, daddy?"

"You've absolutely rocked it, hun."
