USER REVIEWS

An ideal gift for first time parents
~ Written on Jan 19, 2010. out of users found this review helpful.

This book proved to be an invaluable resource for me and my wife during the first year of our daughter's life. She's now two and has a baby brother and again the book is being used regularly.

It's not the kind of book that is read from cover to cover but instead should be used to "dip into" and answer some of those more obscure questions and also provide useful reassurance at those times when you just don't know if you're doing it right.

The way it is divided into monthly chapters with information at the start of each on what baby "should be doing", "might be doing" and "may even be doing" gives parents an easy to use reference to check that development is progressing as it should. That's not to say your midwife and/or health visitor shouldn't be consulted as required.

The book would have got five stars if it had not been so Americanised (eg talking abut choosing your baby's doctor, and the more regular check ups babies seemingly have in the US) but on the whole we have found it invaluable alongside other baby books.

Exactly what I was looking for!

Like the WTE pregnancy book this also is extremely helpful!
I go through it month by month, so that I don't get stressed.
Would recommend it to first time parents 100%.

A must

This was recommended to me by a friend. It is written in a question and answer format, month by month through the baby's first year. Packed full of useful information on all aspects of parenting. It is a good book to dip into when you need it, rather than reading it right through from cover to cover. A good buy.

Not Used as much as others

A hefty tome, it is certainly thorough and well researched. However I rarely consulted it, as the format is more like an academic study tool than an enjoyable read. Hard work and clinical, but solid info.

Delay in Delivery. Poor service.

I had ordered this book on 20 Oct and have still not received this. Home Delivery Network who delivers seems to have delivered this to a wrong address on 23 Oct and I am stranded till they get this issue sorted :-(

Amazon have asked me to wait till 2 Nov and check back for a refund after that:-(
