EDITORIAL REVIEW

Why Men Lie and Women Cry reminds us why Allan and Barbara Pease have been so successful in teaching us to understand ourselves. They combine a blockbuster style of entertainment with jillions of facts about human nature, the battle of the sexes and what really makes us tick. Why Men Lie and Women Cry goes further into the territory covered by their first coauthored bestseller Why Men Don't Listen and Women Can't Read Maps. Both books are written in a punchy, funny style with quick pace, quick wit and quick page-turning power.

This is popular psychology with the emphasis on popular. Inside the front cover we're given a photograph of the husband and wife coauthor team, and they beam out to us as all happy, suntanned, beautifully groomed self-help authors ought to. If you are cynical about human nature, believe people don't really change and suspect self-help is a shallow con game, then don't buy this book. But if you believe we can learn to understand one another better, can build better relationships and work towards a happier and more abundant life, then Why Men Lie and Women Cry can provide practical help in a fun-filled, chock-full of facts informative way. --Dwight Longenecker

Same book different title!
~ Written on Jan 30, 2007. 5 out of 5 users found this review helpful.

Warning - Allan & Barbara Pease have released a new book with a different title and it is exactly the same book inside. It's called "Why men don't have a clue and women always need more shoes". It is an excellent book and I would recommend it to anyone. Buy the cheaper of the two though and do your finances a favour as well as your relationships!

Great book - other reviewers dont get it

Its so predictable - feminists on here saying this is sexist - as they repeatedly say in the book *they are generalising*!!! If you read it you will know that.

The fact is men and women ARE VERY DIFFERENT - lets recognise that - as they say one gender isnt -better- we both have advantages and disadvantages in the genes - though buring our head in the sand and pretending we are identical is not a good option if you ask me.

Id rather embrace reality - and this book is backed with hard scientific fact. Can help anyone - specially in terms of relating to the opposite sex.

A Good Easy Read
~ Written on Mar 17, 2004. 12 out of 13 users found this review helpful.

This is the 2nd book by the authors who specialise in Human Relations and Body Language.

The book continues to explain the differences between men and women. It's easy to read and has lots of funny antedotes as well as some cools facts and snippets of information.

Did you know that 23% of all photocopier faults world wide are caused by people sitting on them to photocopy their buttocks? Amazing!!

It also has some good practical advice which at times can feel a little glib. The chapter on how to tell when someone is telling a lie is brilliant/

Overall an good easy read.

boring and dull
~ Written on Nov 2, 2003. 17 out of 27 users found this review helpful.

Although some of the reviews call this book witty and humourous ... it is anything but this. It is dull ... and furthermore, based on male wishful thinking. All it tells you is how women like old men ... and how all men like big breasts and blonde hair and then tries to justify all other stereotypes, but fails to support any of the ideas with credible science, or intelligent thoughts. This kind of book basically puts all women into one category and men into another ... and doesn't seem to acknowledge that there is so much variation in each gender ... and that not all men are the same! based on simple stereotypical thinking ... if you decide to waste your money on this ... take what it says with a pinch of salt ... but better ... do not buy ... use your money on something a little more intelligent and insightful.

rubbish
~ Written on Nov 2, 2003. 17 out of 27 users found this review helpful.

If you are the average non emotional, insensitive, stereotypical male then this is the book for you ... if you are the average, blonde haired, big breasted bimbo with little between your ears ... then this is a good read for you ... but for those who are smart .. who are a little unique ... and in search of deeper and wiser answers ... then do not waste your money ... this book is a lot of rubbish. Alan and Barbara Pease are just out for easy money.
